Brief Biography

Syed Mehmood Ali received a B.Eng degree form the department of Biomedical Engineering at the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology in 2003. He received his MSc degree from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences Germany in 2007.

His MSc thesis was completed in Research Centre Juelich (Germany) with the collaboration of Aachen University of Applied Sciences on Ferroelectric Properties of SrTiO3 Films on Microwave Suitable Substrates. He had been working as a faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology. He started his PhD in Dublin Institute of Technology since 1st May 2008.

Research Interests

The obejctive of his project is the development of methods for skin characterisation by vibrational spectroscopy. The study evaluates the role of Raman and FTIR microspectroscopy as investigative tools for assay of the effect of solar UV exposure on human skin.
